The claims awarded to United Overseas Bank (SGX:U11) in a case against developer Lippo Marina Collection have been increased to SG$76.1 million from SG$17.7 million by the Appellate Division of Singapore's High Court, according to a judgment passed on Monday.

The lender had accused Lippo Marina Collection of fraudulently inflating the prices of its condominium units, which led to UOB disbursing higher housing loans.

In the initial judgment, the court deducted S$37.2 million in damages and rental income; however, the Appellate Division in its ruling said the deduction should not have been made. Therefore, after excluding the SG$1.3 million relating to the restructured loan, SG$35.9 million was added to the damages.

The court also added interest of SG$22.5 million to the damages to be awarded to UOB.
