Singapore to Probe Tariff Evasion, Forced-Labor Imports

Singapore will investigate companies if there is credible evidence they are routing goods through the city-state to disguise their actual origin or importing goods made with forced labor, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said.
Wong said Singapore has clear rules and laws in place and will not allow the country to be used as a channel for illegal trade practices. However, he said Singapore is a major center for re-exports and transhipment, with goods passing through the country from around the world, making it impossible to trace and verify the entire supply chain behind every product.
Singapore will continue engaging the U.S. and explaining its position, Wong said.
