Agricultural Bank of China Raises 20 Billion Yuan via Subordinated Bond Issuance

Agricultural Bank Of China Limited (ABC) successfully completed the issuance of its first perpetual bond tranche for 2026 in the interbank market on August 21, raising 20 billion yuan with a coupon rate of 1.88%. This marks the lowest yield ever recorded for the bank's perpetual bond offerings, reflecting a strategic alignment with favorable market conditions.

Leveraging the recent window of relatively low bond yields, the bank adopted a market-driven issuance approach to secure an optimal rate, effectively reducing funding costs. The transaction attracted robust demand from a diverse range of investors, underscoring strong confidence in the investment value of the bank's perpetual bonds.

The proceeds from this issuance are designated to bolster the bank's Additional Tier 1 capital, which will strengthen its capital base for supporting the real economy and enhance its resilience against potential risks.
