Fusen Pharmaceutical Company Limited (FUSEN PHARM) announced that its wholly owned unit, Henan Fusen Pharmaceutical, has received National Medical Products Administration approval to market “Glucosamine Sulfate Capsule” (trademark: Shuhuitong) for the treatment of primary and secondary osteoarthritis.

The capsule contains natural amino monosaccharides vital to articular cartilage matrix synthesis. By repairing cartilage, alleviating pain and improving joint function, the therapy targets the long-term management needs of osteoarthritis—a degenerative condition linked to aging, body weight and joint strain.

Classified as a Class B medicine in the National Basic Medical Insurance, Work-Related Injury Insurance and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalog (2025 Edition), Glucosamine Sulfate Capsules generated industry-wide sales exceeding RMB850.00 million in 2024, reflecting year-on-year growth of 25.28%. Sales for the first three quarters of 2025 rose 26.84% year on year, according to Menet data.

Management highlighted that China’s aging demographic and rising prevalence of joint disorders underpin sustained demand growth. The new approval broadens FUSEN PHARM’s product pipeline and reinforces the group’s positioning in the osteoarthritis therapeutic segment, offering additional treatment options to patients.
