China's Former Richest Man Donates Nearly 1 Billion Yuan in Shares to Charity

On the 25th, Wantai Biological announced that its actual controller, Zhong Shanshan, has made a charitable donation of 33 million unrestricted tradable shares, representing 2.61% of the company's total share capital, to the Fujian Xiang'an Innovation Laboratory Science and Technology Development Foundation. This gift is provided at no cost to the recipient.

Following this donation, Zhong Shanshan's direct shareholding in Wantai Biological will decrease from 17.71% to 15.10%. The combined stake held by him and the controlling shareholder, Yangshengtang, will drop from 73.53% to 70.92%. The company's announcement confirms that the foundation has committed to not selling any of the donated shares within a six-month period. Furthermore, any future reductions by the foundation will be aggregated with Zhong Shanshan's own share sales for compliance purposes.

This transaction is not expected to result in any change of control for the company. Based on the closing price of 28.10 yuan per share on August 25th, the total value of the donated shares is approximately 927 million yuan.
