At the 2026 interim results briefing held on August 25, Bank Of Chongqing Co.,Ltd. (601963.SH) executives detailed the bank's capital management roadmap. Deputy President and Board Secretary Hou Ximeng highlighted that the growth in core tier-1 capital during the first half of 2026 was primarily driven by retained earnings and partial convertible bond conversions, which together lifted the core tier-1 capital adequacy ratio from the start of the year.
Hou emphasized that the bank will maintain a diversified approach to capital replenishment through multiple channels. The first pillar involves enhancing profitability and strengthening profit retention to solidify internal capital generation, noting that the bank achieved double-digit revenue and net profit growth of over 10% in the first half, laying a strong foundation for organic capital accumulation. The second pillar focuses on closely monitoring market conditions to issue perpetual bonds and tier-2 capital instruments as needed.
Regarding the ongoing conversion of the Chongqing Bank convertible bond, Hou confirmed that the process is progressing steadily. "In March of this year, we successfully introduced Chongqing Expressway Group to increase its holdings via convertible bond conversion, injecting nearly 1.5 billion yuan in core tier-1 capital," Hou explained. As of the end of June 2026, cumulative conversions had turned 1.437 billion yuan of the Chongqing Bank convertible bonds into A-share ordinary shares, representing approximately 151 million shares and accounting for 4.3538% of the bank's total issued ordinary shares prior to conversion. The bank remains committed to advancing the convertible bond conversion initiative going forward.
